Description

Colette (UK) is based on the life of celebrated French writer Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette who is portrayed by Keira Knightly. Colette is married to Henry, a successful writer who relies on ghostwriters to produce his work so as to give him more time to indulge in his numerous affairs. Colette becomes one of Henry’s ghostwriters and he betrays her trust by reworking her wildly successful writing under his own name exclusively. As their marriage deteriorates, Colette finds a place for herself through her writing and other artistic avenues. In highlighting her passion for life, art, and human connection, the director shows how Colette paved the way for other women to experience life to the fullest, unafraid of who they truly are.
